Here is what you will need:
  • paper scraps
  • ribbon
  • paperclips
  • embellishments such as buttons and American Crafts Flair buttons
  • adhesive

Variation #1 - altered paperclip

Step 1) Place your backing piece (mine is a 1.5 inch scalloped punched circle) right side down on your work surface.  Attach a glue dot on the centre. Place a paperclip on top of this.  Attach your piece of *flair* (any embellishment will do!).

For the button bookmark place your backing piece (mine is a 1 inch punched circle) right side down on your work surface.  Attach a glue dot on the centre.  Place paperclip on top of this.  Place button on top and hand sew in place.

The star one is made the same way...so fun to present to your *star reader*!

Variation 2 - Flowery Bookmarks

These are a beautiful addition to any book!

Step 1) Cut a piece of heavy weight
patterned paper to measure 2 X 6 inches and corner round the bottom corners.  Gather several paper flowers and cut a 10 inch length of ribbon.

Step 2) Punch a hole at the top of your bookmark. Thread ribbon through and secure.

Step 3) Glue on your flowers.  Place bookmark under a heavy book to ensure it dries nice and flat.

This is a quick and easy craft you can do with your kids, and they make great gifts for your favorite reader! What a special treat to leave a cute surprise in a book for a loved one!
